I have a twin brother. Everyone calls him Jimmy, which is sort of the English verison of Dimitri, his actual Greek name. Our mum’s Greek, you see. I’m Cally, short for Calista, which means, I don’t want to sound big-headed or anything, but it means ‘most beautiful’. I’m not sure about Dimitri, but if Dimitri means most-annoying-brother-in-the-whole-wide-world, then that’s him.
Join Cally and Jimmy in four hilarious stories! They get into scrapes together, bake some poisonous cakes, almost ruin their school assembly and finally have a twintastic birthday party.
Invincible Voices: Short Shorts, Medium Shorts, Long Shorts and Winter Shorts
Imaginative and exciting ideas are developed together through the process of shared writing, resulting in collections of short stories: Invincible Voices – Long Shorts, Medium Shorts, Short Shorts and Winter Shorts, published by Matador (an imprint of Troubador Publishing)
These stories are for children by children; they contain first-hand concepts that children want to read about because children have chosen to write them. With a skilled teacher and author, Zoe Antoniades, to guide them, the children are inspired to come up with their own ideas, then helped to shape, structure, organise and develop them so that they evolve into more professional pieces. The result of such an approach is a unique style, a hybrid product of adult and child’s voice. The stories possess the spirit and originality of a child’s creative ideas, but with the polish and flair of an experienced writer.
